Rat-Bots

We have stone age grains and are surrounded by machines.  For 2 million years, we have lived among plants and animals that were similar to us .  Even a turnip shares half our DNA.  Now we live with machines and gadgets that are in no way similar to us or our past.  This is disturbing and alienating.  Against this, I make my Rat-Bots.

These machines are making further and further incursions into our daily likes - cell phones, facebook, interactive TV.  They are multiplying like rats.  Google knows more about us than we know about ourselves.  In this threatening world we live in, I make sculpture as a statement against proliferation of unfeeling, unknowable technology.  My Rat-Bots are a comfort to me the way a stuffed animal is a comfort to a toddler.

The forms I use are simple and primitive to connect with our atavistic consciousness at our core.  I have also insinuated a smirk of humor into my pieces - just for fun.
